Talk to Gynecologist on Delayed Periods With Intermittent Cramps

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 29 years old, Nawabshah

I had a C-section in March 2026. My periods resumed in June and were usually every 30–32 days. My LMP was 3 September 2026.

Since around 27–29 September, I have had intermittent period-like cramps, lower abdominal discomfort, lower backache, and heaviness/aching in both thighs and legs, but no bleeding. I also have increased thin watery/milky-white discharge, occasional nausea, weakness, irritability, mild dizziness, and constipation, which is unusual for me around my periods.

I had unprotected intercourse only once, on cycle day 9; all other intercourse was protected. My period was expected around 3–5 October. Today is cycle day 36, and I still have no period.

I did urine pregnancy tests on cycle days 33 and 35 using first-morning urine; both were negative. I am partially breastfeeding. My longest previous cycle was about 38 days.

Could these symptoms be due to delayed ovulation, PMS, pregnancy, or another cause? Is pregnancy still possible despite two negative tests? How long should I wait before repeating the test or seeking medical evaluation?
