Asking for Self, Female, 30 years old, Lahore

I'm 27weeks pregnant and this is my 2nd pregnancy. My doctor didn't advise me ogtt because of Corona. She just asked me to check my blood glucose levels twice a week one hour after breakfast n lunch. She said it should be under 140. It was all going well n the readings were around 99 n 105 etc. Today I checked it after lunch n it was 140 which freaked me out. Although I ate a lot of biryani n sweet dish may be that caused the rise. Please suggest what should I do to bring it back. My next appointment is at 28 weeks. So please guide me up till then. P.s I didn't get gestational diabetes in my previous pregnancy. Although my parents are diabetic.

salaam. If parents are diabetic there are chances of GDM. but if you are vigilant enough then you can avoid. Don't be scared of one reading. plz have short frequent meals with less carbohydrates and fats.high protein diet. and do 6 point profile which is highly recommended. fasting and 2 hour post prandial, prelunch and post lunch and pre dinner and post dinner with average intake of food. 24 /48 hours record needed.

Dear Patient,

There is nothing to panic about, as the blood glucose levels are just borderline. Please maintain a good diet, and avoid binge eating. Secondly, instead of having sweet dishes, you could satisfy your craving/appetite by taking a fresh fruit like mango or banana. Thanks.
