Asking for Self, Female, 31 years old, lahore
AOA. I am 31 years old, and have been married for 5 years. This is my first pregnancy, and i am 6 month pregnant now. (Alhamdulillah). I am having severe pain in my leg, near the pelvic joint, the inner and outer both sides, the hip joint, and going up to the backbone. The pain is not bearable and i walk with a great difficulty. I have been taking pain killers for 2/3 days on my Dr.'s advice and then stopped because it is not safe. No muscle relaxant pill or gel/balm is working for me. Its been 3 weeks now. Finally my Dr told me to have the nerve get blocked temporarily. I am not sure if this treatment is safe? Or if the nerve remain blocked forever? I am very upset due the pain and for this nerve blocking solution. Please guide me what should i do? Note: My sister had the same pain, in the 6th month of pregnancy, but she lost her baby (IUD) due to some complications in the 7th month. And she got relief from the pain after a week, she delivered the baby.
I think you should take rest , avoid heavy consult surgeon. He will be better equipped to deal with the situation .
Keep on taking Calcium supplements and Tab Nuberol Forte till you get an appointment

AOA Dr. Rabia.
I had Calcium, Magnesium, Uric Acid and Vit D test. And found my Calcium and Vit D extremely low. Vit D is 11. And Uric Acid is very high. Also i visited an orthopedic who told me that this is due to loosen Joints, as the body is being prepared for delivery, and i am already deficient in Vit D and Calcium, thats why i am having swelled Joints and suffering from this pain.
And also the Orthopedic had the proper examine and identified that this is not the nerve pain at all.
I dont know if i am in the right direction or not.
Do you agree above findings?

It seems like pubis symphysis dysfunction (pelvi girdle pain). It happens to some women in pregnancy and symptoms can range mild to can take paracetamol and codeine, however it may not provide enough if pelvic support belts are available from any pharmacy and use those.I would recommend seeing a physiotherapist who can work with you and teach you pelvic stabilising don't need any tests!

We do have high rates of vitamin D deficiency in Pakistan despite appreciable levels of sunshine.
Pubis symhysis dysfunction is a fancy name for loose joints :-).So your orthopedic dr and I are on the same page.I would still suggest seeing a physiotherapist to help with the pain if it's affecting your daily will improve after delivery.
Swollen joints could be due to high uric acid
Get your dr to review your vitamin D and uric acid results for advice and treatment.
Hope that helps.

Thank you so much Dr. Rabia. I consulted another Gynecologist, and she told me to go for Calcium, Magnesium, Uric Acid and Vit D test. So she can figure out if there is some deficiency.
Is this can be a deficiency of Calcium, Magnesium, or Vit D?
I am already taking Calcium and Vit D supplements.

The issue is nerve compression due to the weight of pregnant uterus. There is no harm in getting Serum Calcium and Vit D levels.
But as mentioned previously , an orthopedic surgeon is at a better postion to deal with your problem.
He woukd add a neurotonic as well
