DR SAHB RECENTLY I HAVE DONE HB ELECTROPHORESIS TEST (PRE MARRIAGE TEST) THE RESULT OF MY PARTNER ARE NORMAL BUT MY RESULT ARE (HB A=95.1% & HB A=4.9%) AND THE COMMENT OF THE LAB TECH IS "genetic profile is recommended for further work up to rule out the possibility of beta thalassemia trait" WHAT DOES THIS STATEMENT MEANS. If you turn out to ba carrier, your Hb may drp below normal levels sometimes for which you can take oral iron. After marriae, your husband and contacts are not at risk but 50percent of your offspring may be carriers only in case you turn out to be positive.
