Talk to Gynecologist on HCG Levels And Pregnancy

Hello. My LMP was 6 august and i tested pregnancy strip test thrice after that. First test was a very faint line but the last two showed very clear red lines. I got my beta hcg done last night (on september 28) and according to the range I'm 5-6 weeks pregnant. But according to my LMP it is my 8th week? What could cause low hcg levels or is it normal? I've been only taking folic acid for more than a month now and it is my first pregnancy. I haven't yet visited any doctor nor have I got any scan done yet. Should I repeat the test?
