Talk to Gynecologist on High Tsh Levels
Asking For Sister, Female 26, Karachi
Aoa, my sister's tsh levels are 12.8. (report attached). Dr prescriped her 1 and 1/2 tablet of thyroxine 50mcg, and asked to get blood tests done after 6 weeks. I need to know: 1. Is this medicine cause weight gain? 2. Is dose correct? 3. How long it will take to set the dose?
P.S: I do not need consultation, just need guidance in this regard.

no its not cause weight gain actually hypothyroidism is the cause of weight gain if level at 6wks become normal than dose is correct other your dr will increase dose dose adjustment take at least 6wks
not causing weight gain causing heat intolerance and palpitation

walecum assalam.although I m not physician but ur tsh level is too high.this medicine doesn't cause wt gain.second thing ,I think the dose is enough for u .3rd thing is duration of 6 week is good enough to normalize ur throid function.recheck thyroid profile after 6 weeks
