Talk to Gynecologist on Is GTT Test Compulsory In Pregnancy

I live in UAE, this is my 3rd pregnancy,I never had experience any diabetes or gestational diabetes in my previous pregnancy, nor it is in my family I have no such complications in my current pregnancy. Here my medical insurance is not covering this test,and its little expensive here. so I want to know, is this test is compulsory to be done ? is just random sugar test not enough? my pregnancy is so smooth as well.

it is very overweight
that is the reason the doctor has advised GTT.
if it is too expensive, you should at least get fasting sugar, sugar 1 hour after meal and sugar 2 hours after meal checked.
