Asking For Self, Female, 24 Years old, karachi

Hi, I have pcos since 2016, have been taking piozer 15mg and glucophage 250 mg (both once in a day). My weight currently is 52 kgs, initially when i was diagnosed with pcos it was 42 kgs, the weight keeps on fluctuating, however I look very skinny, I’ve always been skinny. My question is to ask about diet and exercises for skinny pcos. Everywhere i search they have tips for obese people, so can anyone pls suggest. I’m currently doing mild yoga and light exercises/stretches for 15,20 minutes. Pls advise what should I include in my diet and exercise to manage pcos? My symptoms were prolonged cycles and since some years I’m having hair thinning as well no other issues allhamdulilah.

salaam. PCOS is a syndrome and it needs to treat the symptoms. Actually glucophage makes you thin. stop it and switch over to myoinositol. for other demands you can consult nutritionist.

Thankfully it didn’t make me thin. What is myonositol and what it for? I’m tired of taking these medicines now all of them have side effects and it’s been years I’m taking this pls suggest a safer option!

PCOS is treated according to the symptoms troubling patient.
piozer is not a safe enough drug to give longterm to such a young patient.
glucophage does not cause weight reduction, but should only be given if there is evidence of insulin resistance.
PCOS is overdiagnosed in Pakistan, often solely and inaccurately on the basis of mistaken ultrasound appearance.

Hello dr, where is your seating pls share your details so i can consult you? Also my dr never ask me for any insulin test, i just had an ultrasound and Lh/Fsh test and she gave me piozer straight away, however my cycle started getting regular as soon as I started piozer, in 2018 it got prolonged again so she gave me glucophage as well.

please share your firsr ultrasound report, your height and weight. if you responded to both drugs, it is good, but still Piozer for many years is not a very safe option.

LH/FSH is not required for diagnosis of PCOS.
PCOS is diagnosed if proper ultrasound appearance is present alongwith either irregular periods or extra hair on body.

Yes I’ve had it checked in 2015. It was normal. I had slightly elevated prolactin level which has been cured and returned back to normal too.

ideally, a proper ultrasound operator should mention volume of ovary, number of follicles, and size of follicles.
This ultrasound mentions only 2 out of 5 things it should have mentioned. Also, have you had your TSH checked ? If not, it is worth getting it checked from Aga Khan lab.
