Internal Medicine Specialist in Lahore - Dr. Muntaqa Butt

Delay of upto 1 week (7 to 10 days) is considered normal if it happens once or twice in a year and if there is no underlying disease.
Common causes of delayed mensis include: pregnancy, stress, thyroid problems, sudden weight loss, being overweight, doing too much exercise, contraceptive pill, PCOS, endometriosis, hormonal imbalance during sexual activity.
Pregnancy can happen if precum (pre-ejaculate) or if semen is released inside vagina.
You can carry out urine for pregnancy test (UPT) from the first day of a missed period. If you don't know when your next period is due, then do the test at least 10 days after you had unprotected sex.
Wait for mensis to happen
If they dont happen and its been more than 10 days, then go for urine pregnancy test. If it comes negative, then go for beta hcg test, and then visit gynae opd for detailed evaluation.
