Talk to Gynecologist on Ovaries Cyst

I am posting on behalf of my relative. She has undergone ultrasound after feeling abdominal pain. Surgery is recommended for the removal of ovaries cyst (fluid). Can it be cured with medicine or surgery is compulsory? On the other hand, will it affect the fertility?
