Talk to Gynecologist on Pre Natals In Early Pregnancy

Assalamualaikum I am 5 weeks pregnant. When my report was positive, I went to the general physician because the gynecologist don't check a patient till 12 weeks. I asked doc for some vitamins but they said they won't prescribe until 12 weeks. M having weakness and I already have vit d deficiency. Should I buy pre natals from pharmacy and start or as per the doc wait till 12 weeks.
