Asking For Self, Female 26, lahore
I am 8 weeks pregnant. i have severe chest congestion sneezing flu and body aches. i took panadol only. i wanted to ask can i take Johar Jushanda to ease my problem as i cant take any other medicines. is it safe? what other remedies can i do? will nebulizing with normal saline water will help?
hi
it seems like you have seasonal flu. Apart from aches and pains how is your breathing are you feeling chesty sob wheezy ?.Rule of thumb in pregnancy in particular first 12-14 wks is avoid any form of medication if possible as this is the time of baby formation and potential harmful medicine can lead to serious problems, however mums health come first if there is potential health issue that need treatment then risk and benefits of a particular medicine used are weighed. if its simple flu and not causing respiratory distress I would just take paracetamol plenty of fluids and rest , if you feel chesty wheezy then nebulization with salbutamol can be done it may cause abit of racing of heart but it is safe in first trimester .most of such illnesses should improve with time can take 1-2 wks to settle completely.
hope this is helpful

hi
paracetamol is absolutely fine but i wont agree with idea of taking broad spectrum antibiotics for no clear indications.most of viremic symptoms settle with time.i would suggest to refrain to take joshanda as well as we dont know chemical composition hence its potential teratogenic safety cant be guaranteed.these are simple common things should settle with time .
thanks
