Hi Doctor! I'm into 12th week of my 1st pregnancy. I conceived after 1.5 years of trying. I'd been taking Glucophage 500 mg since last 6 months. And soon I got pregnant, my gyno put me on duphaston TID too in order to prevent bleeding. I want to know till when should I ideally continue both of these medicines? Your kind reply will be highly appreciated. TIA
-wellcome and thanks for preffering Marham for your health Consultation.
-Dear u have not mentioned your previous history Actually.
-Glucophage is given normally to Pco, obese and suspected diabetic infertile petients.
-duphaston to support Conception and avoid miscarriage.
-these both medications need to support and balance hormones for Conception and few people continue even 16 wks and after.
-before quitting Glucophage suger test OGTt need to be done. In high risk petients could be done around 16 wks.
-other wise normally advised 24-28 wks.
-have OGTT before quitting Glucophage around 16-17 wks.
-in pregnancy metformin and insulin is advised to regulate high blood suger levels.
-have balanced diabetic diet and walk daily, avoid weight, stairs.
-best of luck.
