Talk to Gynecologist on Spironolactone Side Effect

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 25 years old, Karachi

I had been taking spironolactone 100 mg since the last 10 months for my acne, and was told by my dermatologist to continue it for the next 2 years. She told me to stop if I had an episode of intermenstrual bleed. Yesterday I had light spotting 10 days before my expected period date. I left the dose for that day and also for today. I cannot go to the dermatologist until october as I have my exam in sept and im in the most crucial phase of prep so Im avoiding going outside.

What should be done right now? Should I stop it completely or restart in a few days? I will take an appointmemt for the first week of October, but I just dont want all of my severe acne to come back till then.

Please only qualified professionals comment.
