Asking For Wife, Female 25, Hong Kong
Hello Dr,
I am in Hong Kong and not able to reach doctor easily.
My wife is observing a very light spot on tissue after intercourse. Its just a drop probably. She saw that kind of spot for the 3rd time. Her last mensuration date was 20th February.
Last month she suffered from some sort of Urinary Infection for which she took antibiotics for 7 days and during infection she also had fever, but now she is fine and doing good.
Can you please tell me about the possible reason behind the light spot after intercourse? The spot only shows up after intercourse. According to wife, period is also bit late but I think after 30th March would be the late.
please advice.
Thanks your wife needs to be check internally to find out the cause post coital sport may be cx erosion or some other local cause her periods are not late if periods not come after 20 March nd do pregnancy test
It is important that she should be examined by a gynaecologist to assess cause of spotting as it is recurrent as you had mentioned.

- Dear many factors can cause spotting or bleeding post coital ,better to sort out .
- if she is over due have serum beta hcg ( blood Pregnancy test ) to check Pregnancy status if positive have folic acid daily ,check and observe closely symmotoms ( one sided lower abdominal pain need to be evaluated urgently ) ,if remains Asymmptmatic have scan after 2 wks .
if beta hcg comes negative have cervical smear ,high vaginal swab ,Transvaginal scan ,one local examination by specialist ( better out petient hysteroscopic Examination) .
- collect labs and discuss here .
- should have strict local hygeine.
- use condoms to avoid sexually transmitted infections if not trying for Conception.
- have comfortable position for sex and if pain full have tab ponstan 500 mgs 30 mins before sex to avoid pressure and trauma Locally .
- have complete treatment of any health issue she have like any medical disorder .
- can have combined oral Contraceptive pills ( if not trying for concepton )for 3 cycles if just hormonal Cause this will help .
- local infection can give coloured spotting .
-have sitz baths to avoid irritations if still having pain or irritation in vagina .
- collect labs and discuss here .

its better to get her evaluation done by the gynecologist. for her cervical examination and pap's smear .reason can be so many from simple infection to even some serious condition so it better to have a detailed evaluation by gynecologist
If if last period was 20 th feb , then it’s not late yet , if she misses her period for a week after that date then get a pregnancy test done ——-/ as far as post coital spotting is concerned get her examined to see the cause , could be a polyp or erosion , get a Pap smear done
