Talk to Gynecologist on Spotting Before Periods. Never Happened Before

I got spotting 10 days before my period date.. and its 4th day, still spotting (smelly brownish discharge).. no regular bleeding till now.. this has never happened before.. i have pretty regular period cycle. kindly tell me whats the reason.. P. S m not pregnant.
