Salam 24M. I have head tremors issue it is not consistent but it happens in yes yes position a lot of times. A little background that is ig relevant. (In 2018) I suddenly stopped taking Psych meds after a week of use which were. 1. Zedan (aripripazole) Antipsychotic 2. Alp (benzo) 3. Flux (SSRI) Symptoms triggers for head shaking: - More prone to happen when sitting completely straight with top shoulder pain nd pressure. - when keeping straight head for taking pictures. - In social situations too. - When i slowly move head from neutral to right it shakes very badly in yes yes direction but from meutral to left its not much compared to right one. - Also i have lips trembling issue when i smile my lips shake so much. The thing is i havr consultated multiple doctors These 4 were online appoinments and they said 1. Its Psychogenic tremor 2. He said its Essential tremor 3. He said it is Dystonic tremor. 4. ( she was a movement disorder specialist) She said it is Functional issues. Now I have visited 2 doctors in person. 1. (General neurologist). He did MRI (contrast) and all tests and he said it is Functional tremor since all tests are clear. 2. It was a movement disorder specialist. He said it is all functional and said you will have to live with it. I don't know which diagnosis to believe and move forward with treatment. Since there are not a lot of options in Pakistan for these types of issues please help.
Use of antipsychotics can result in a dystonic tremor and is a recognized extra pyramidal effect of these drugs. That’s why we use drugs like procyclidine or kemadrine together with these drugs to mitigate their extra pyramidal side effects.
If you have developed a dystonic tremor which is an extra pyramidal side effect of these drugs then you require treatment . For consultation kindly refer through Marham
