Talk to Neuro Physician on Head Tremors, Blepharospasm, Neck And Shoulder Pain

person-avatar

Asking For Mother, Female 48, Peshawar

My mother has blepharospasm and she is tilting her head either forward or towards the right shoulder. Neck and right shoulder has a lot of pain but extremely painful are the head tremors because they are continuous. Specialist neurologist has prescribed medication but my mom is an asthma patient and most medicines used to anxiety, seizures, depression are not good for asthma and the side effects are horrible especially dizziness, unsteadiness and drowsiness to the level that one feels like he/she is given anesthetic. Head tremors started occurring after taking gabapentin 100mg for 2 days, twice each and from the last 20 days there are continuous head tremors. Doctors will rejoin one week after Eid. but is there any medication which is asthma friendly also that stops head tremors?

If the head tilt and blephrospasm r very bad then she will need botox injection. U can give a trial of low dose tizanidine (musidine) 2mg 1+1, continue with tab. Rivotril 0.25mg 1+1+1 continue and some pain killer as required. Also givr tab. Sinemet 250/50mg 1+1+1.

Thanks a lot. Who does botox injections in Peshawar? Which doctor? According to my experience, neurologist (neurophysicans) are diagnosing the disorder as craniocervical dystonia but not most of them are willing to do botox on patients in Peshawar.
If you could kindly guide me. We have started with medications but worst than the pain and tilt, are the head tremors. She is shaking her head towards the right shoulder very violently.
Also tell me how often to botox injections needs to be repeated? And is it a life-long continued treatment? Like the patient will have to repeat the injections for the rest of their life?
Eagerly awaiting your sooner response.
Thank you.

Answer. The abnormal movements you are describing are suggestive of cervical dystonia but needs to be seen for accurate diagnosis. Its better if you couls send me a video of her abnormal movements through this Marham app.

Thanks.
She is diagnosed with craniocervical dystonia. We have taken her to many neurologists but none has been of much help. She is violently tilting and shaking her head towards her right shoulder. Medications aren't working on her and her condition is deteriorating immensely.

My mother is suffering from craniocervical dystonia and blepharospasm. We have been to most of the well known neurologists in Peshawar.
It's been 20 days since she's been diagnosed and she has been following medications namely baclofen 10mg, rivotril 0.5mg, nuberol forte, hexidyl 2mg and zoloft 50mg. 20 days into the medications and she is still shaking her head extremely violently towards her right shoulder. The head tremors are very severe.
Along with the medications she is doing physical therapy also (heat therapy with hot pack) and massage with voltral emulgel 2%. But this therapy only provides relief for 2 hours at the most.

Will medications work and take time? Or do medications not work at all? If botox injections are a must. I want to know few things.
Who is the most expert doctor for botox in Peshawar? Because most neurologists are not willing to go for botox treatment on patients.
What is the success result of botox? Does patient feel like before (normal)? How long does botox work ? And is this repetition a life long thing? Once a patient starts with these injections, he/she will repeat it every 3 months for the rest of their life? Can an asthmatic patient take botox?
