If facial paralysis is not accompanied by any paralysis of upper or lower limbs then it is called Bells Palsy. It is caused by entrapment of inflamed and swollen facial nerve in the narrow canal in the skull. This causes a temporary damage to facial nerve and paralysis of that half of face. The treatment is with steroids in first 2 weeks of the paralysis which can result in complete recovery. Isolating the patient in a room is of no use. But do not use steroids without medical advice because only a neurologist would be able to assess whether it is just Bells Palsy or facial paralysis due to stroke.
