Diabetes if uncontrolled can cause peripheral neuropathy. There can be other reasons too, ideally you should get a full physical examination done by a neurologist to identify if it is a neuropathy or something else, then a management plan can be suggested. My recommendation would be to not take your diabetes lightly as you’re still young, and having end organ involvement at age 47 is not good. But you can manage it and reverse many things if you’re committed and willing to take charge of your health.
