Asking for Mother, Female, 53 years old, Lahore
My mother has had restless legs for many years, but it has become much worse over the last 6 months. It has now spread to her thighs and arms, and for the past 2 nights she has barely been able to sleep. She has diabetes, hypertension, hypothyroidism, and has been on medication for depression/anxiety for years. For restless legs, she takes Gabica, and Ronirol, but they no longer seem to help. Her ferritin has been checked and she has also had iron infusions. For the past 6 months, we’ve been going from one doctor to another, including several endocrinologists/diabetes specialists and a neurologist, mainly to rule out diabetic neuropathy and find something that helps, but without much improvement. Would this be something you could see as a neurologist, or should we consult a vascular surgeon or psychiatrist instead? I would really appreciate your guidance.
RLS can be a side effect of depression meds. And there are many treatmemt options available. Doses may need to be as
You should consult neurologist and psychiatrist both. Psychiatrist needs to change your meds and neurologist will prescribe for RLS
