For the past year, I’ve been experiencing muscle twitching mostly in my cheeks. It especially happens when I do a fake or forced smile — the muscles start twitching for a few seconds and then settle. When I smile naturally, it doesn’t happen. Occasionally, my arm or leg muscles also twitch for a few seconds. I was told before it could be due to electrolyte imbalance, and I tried ORS/lemonade for a few days but the twitching didn’t improve. I want to know what could be causing this and what tests or steps I should take next
You need to consult with neurologist for detailed evaluation

Twitching of facial muscles which is associated with a voluntary movement dose not indicate electrolyte imbalance but we need more history. Do you have any weakness in arms or legs? Do you see any twitching in your calf muscles? Do you have any weakness on walking? Do you have any weakness in arms or legs? Do you experience any difficulty in swallowing particularly on drinking water?
