Asking For Someone else, Mother, Female, 44 Years old, karachi
Hello Doctors, ASSALAM O ALAIKUM I need your guidance regarding my mother’s treatment.
My mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer (triple negative). She had her initial tests done at Liaquat National Hospital, and currently her chemotherapy is ongoing at KIRAN. This is her last cycle of chemo, and after this, she is planned for surgery.
The doctor at Liaquat has advised a genetic test (Oncoseq panel) and mentioned that it is important to get it done. However, the test is quite expensive there, and I’m feeling worried and confused about what to do at this stage.
Could you please guide us:
- Is this test necessary before surgery, or can it be done later? - Will it change her treatment or surgery plan? - Can we get it done from another reliable lab at a lower cost? - Which lab would you recommend?
We would really appreciate your guidance. Thank you so much, Attaching a Prescription and Latest CT Scan.
W Salam
Yes this test is recommended as per guidelines in triple Negative breast cancer
Further treatment after surgery will be advised according to this test report
Cost I am not sure whether it will be cheaper at any other lab, thanks
