Asking for Father, Male, 66 years old, Bangladesh
A patient of Ca GB infiltrating biliary tract with liver mets for 2 year & received adjuvant chemo Gem-Cap for 3 cycle & developed HFS for taking capecitabine (2500mg/day). Oncologist changed protocol which was Gem+Carboplatin for 3 cycle. After 6 cycle, observation period for 2 months.CA 19-9 was normal. Then started Capecitabine (1000 mg/day). But CA 19-9 was rapidly increasing. Oncologist switched over Gemox protocol for 6 cycle & received without complications. After that, Capecitabine (2000mg/day) for 14 day and 7 day off. After 6 months of capecitabine developed HFS Gr 3 & had to stop capecitabine. Now patient is not taking anti cancer drug. Symptoms resolve completely. By this time, his CA 19-9 again increasing. It is 127 IU/L. my question is: 1. Will he take another 6 cycle of Gemox therapy? If no, why? 2. Will he continue capecitabine tablets with some reduction i.e 1650mg or 1800 mg daily?
