Water in abdomen in cancer patients is majority of times due to cancer itself. It’s production is reduced with chemotherapy. Some times water tablets ( lasix or spironolsctond helps). Majority of the time water needs to be taken out of abdomen by a drain to provide comfort to patience. Regarding pain control, my class fellow Ali has suggested cap morphine which is the standard and you should get in touch with him to have those capsules as cancer patients should not be suffering with pain even when cancer specialist feels that chemotherapy should be stopped for clinical reasons
