Asking For Mother, Female 60, ---
kia knees men injections lgwaana safe hai ? Meri mother nay lagwaye magr wo 1 month theek rhi phir is se zeyada pain or difficulty honay lagi walking men .? injections lagwanay chorden ? other second solution?
intra articular steroid injections and prp are a temporary solution and are primarily meant to buy time till more definite procedure can be done. if she felt pain relief for 1 month it means the dose was effective.
for more clarity you can visit clinic.
Thank you
I presume your mother has ageing arthritis of the knee.
If you decide to treat arthritis her without surgery than there are so many options are available, like
Reduce weight if she is overweight
Use walklig stick in opposite hand
Physiotherapy along with pain reducing modalities
I/ A steroid
Laser therapy
Orthopedic Surgeon should examin her and assess her the severity of her problem.
Regards
I will not advise injection. It has masking effect on pain and Arthritis gets worst.

Yes in certain cases injections have role.
depend on type of disease process its stage and which type of injections. but if patient is suffering from sever pain secondary to advnaced stage Osteoarthritis then injections have very limited role. Most of time in my practice, Patient presents with end stage , candidates for total knee replacement and they forced to get injection to seek alternative for surgery. but they never told once it failed to relief pain which never supposed to be effective. So always assess through history nd right patient, right diagnosis origin of pain, right stage, and right choice of injection is key to have effective strategy
There can be difference of opinion .Steroids do reduce pain and inflammation but in the long run causes more damage to the joints. It can be used for temporary relief but not as z treatment. The pain reduction is just a masking effect not treatment and leads to more damage to the joints. In present day it is better to avoid unless a surgeon feels it essential.
