Asking for Brother, Male, 34 years old, Karachi
Assalamualaikum Doctors, My cousin recently felt some pain around the ankle area, so we got an X-ray done. The doctor reviewed the X-ray and told us that there is a very small extra bone growth on the side of the ankle. He also mentioned something like a “Cone” near that area. However, the pain is not severe. He can walk normally and even ride a bike without much difficulty (Alhumdulliah). There has been no previous injury or fracture. The doctor he consulted recommended surgery. However, we do not have prior experience with this doctor, so we would like to get a second opinion. I would also like to know the possible reasons why such bone growth occurs in the ankle area. Could this condition be treated with medication, physiotherapy, or other non-surgical methods? Or is surgery usually necessary in such cases? Also I Don't have X Ray reports right now. Thank you in advance for your guidance.
Thank you for the detailed history. Need to see XRay before any opinion regarding diagnosis and management.
Regards
For giving honest opinion, proper history physical examination, and investigation are necessary. It is not wise and is against principles to give verdict on third party verbal explanation.
Please see some orthopedic surgeon near you for second opinion.
