Inguinal Hernia

Question

Asalamualykum 
I want Experienced Opinion.
My son is 4 years 2 months old, I\'m also attaching his ultra sound reports about inguinal hernia.
Is it only Curable With Operation? or I should wait for couple of weeks to check if it heals by its own.

(Note: A brief history about the past) When My son was 1.5 months old at that time he got the same inguinal hernia issue and one of the pediatric surgeon of Military Hospital suggested operation in a week. but my heart was not satisfied after getting many other expert opinions I waited for him to be at least 3 months old. With the blessings of ALLAH ALMIGHTY he Healed by its own after 3 Months..

But now from the past 3 days I can see swelling on the right side above scrotum. Today I went to Cantonment Hospital RWP cantt and General surgeon told me after checking the ultrasound reports that we will operate it.

WALIKUMASALAM, wishing best of health for your son. All inguinal hernia beyond 6 month of age needs to be operated by a pediatric surgeon. usually diagnosis clinical and ultrasound is not required.

It is usally bowel/intestine which pass through and into the sac, there is risk of intestine getting stuck so my advise to get it operated soon electively.

Inguinal hernia wont closes by itself and needs repair surgery. Regarding timings as per peads protochol should be operated on first visit as there r risk of incaceration and obstruction. Now as its hernia on examination and investigations do operate it but from a qualified specified peads surgeon not from general surgeon ?&zwj;⚕️

Only treatment of Inguinal hernia is through surgery. Now a days this surgery is totally safe for babies. And your baby is discharged on the same day of surgery. So my recommendation is to get surgery done as soon as possible.

The only treatment for inguinal hernia is surgery. It is best to get treatment as early as possible to avoid any complications. I prefer doing it with Laparoscopy as its less painful and recovery is quick.
