Asking for Self, Male, 4 years old, Karachi
My 4 year olds are completely potty trained. From few months they have started bedwetting. At first, I thought it's because of winters but the problem still persists even though it's summer. I have a guess it's because they're too tired to get up and pee since they're super active. What should I do to stop this bedwetting habit? Sometimes they bedwet immediately after they've slept. What sort of weakness is this and what's the cure?

Dear all Doctors;
I take them to washroom right until they sleep but as soon as they're asleep they'll pass urine, so settingan alarm goes to vein. Plus Since it's very hot and boys keep sweating, is it safe if i restrict their fluid intake?
If your child has been completely dry both during the day and night and now has started to bed wet then needs to rule out urine infection or any other cause. For this a urine r/e should be done.
Having said that, he is still very young (4 years old), if urine is clear of infection then try basic measures. Such as avoiding any drinks 2 hours before sleep, do not offer tea, coffee, cold drinks etc. Make sure the child empties his bladder properly before going to bed. Offer plenty of water and fluids during the day time and make him wait for a minute or so before he rushes to the toilet, this will help improve his bladder control.
Remember that if there is a family history of bedwetting then kids are more likely to do that. If the problem is worsening or any other concerns, please see a qualified paediatrician. I hope it helps.
