Talk to Psychiatry on Anxiety

Asking For Self, Female 29, Rawalpindi

I've had GAD for quite sometime. I've taken medicines for 2 years n stopped taking them as per my doctor's recommendation. My anxiety n panic attacks subsided. But it's been a month I feel extremely anxious with disturbed heart beat almost every day. It makes me physically tired n inactive. Whenever I eat anything it causes heartburn n severe anxiety. I'm fail to understand how to cope with it. I don't know if disturbed stomach causes anxiety or do I've any other issue. I don't want to take medicines again as it causes weight gain. Please assist me in knowing if generalised anxiety (that too without any reason) is severe, dangerous or problematic? Or dizziness, numb body, disturbed heart beat, heart burn, fear of celebrating joyous moments indicate any other problem. Grateful n looking forward to productive insight!

quality of life and day to day coping will deteriorate further.
u probably need to b on medication for several years , there are therapeutic agents less likely to cause weight gain while containing anxiety. consult qualified psychiatrist for further discussion and advice

GAD runs a persistent chronic and frequent recurring course.GAD presentation is very much the same the symptoms that you are experiencing at this moment of time.As I am not fully aware of your situation and medical (including psychiatric hx),so can not comment. My advice as per your situation is to go back to your consultant and discuss it and make a definitive plan.GAD requires sometime psychological evaluation varying from case to case as medication is not always the cure .In terms of side effects while being on medication is another dilemma and fully agreed upon but again as I m not aware of your drug treatment so can not comment on it and safer choices available.Your psychiatrist might need to revise your diagnosis as well and look into the medical side.In short consult your psychiatrist to get it sorted.Best of luck

Well GAD is a psychological condition , not physical so it it a good news in a way . However there are medications which do not increase weight . In addition relapses occur because clients don’t get therapy with it or not referred while on treatment . So firstly stop worrying about it . Secondly reach out for help to halt the mounting of its effects on day to day life . You have the best insight into the illness than the therapist as you have experienced it. Hope it helps
