Asking For Self, Male 21, Karachi
I am seeking professional help for severe anxiety and related symptoms. I will summarize my history as clearly as possible.
Background
- I am a 21-year-old male with a history of significant anxiety. - I have taken psychiatric medications in the past, sometimes without medical supervision, while trying to manage severe symptoms on my own.
Medication History
1. I was prescribed Lexotanil (bromazepam) along with Motival by a doctor. 2. Toward the end of that period, I took 3 Lexotanil tablets at once, after which I experienced severe benzodiazepine withdrawal for about 2–3 weeks. I was mostly bedridden and unable to function. 3. After that, I briefly took Xanax (alprazolam) on my own. 4. Later, I started Lexapro (escitalopram) with Clonazepam, which again led to a difficult withdrawal experience when stopping. 5. In July 2025, I started Lexapro 10 mg again on my own (without a doctor) and took it for about 5 months. I tapered off and have now been off Lexapro for about 2 months.

Okay, so there is a history of polypharmacy here. Different medications were used unsupervised, and none was taken to its full therapeutic dose. I understand that you have been going through alot of anxiety in the past and are still are suffering from it. Just sharing a bit of information here, that this form of unsupervised medicine intake can lead to medication dependency. Body refuses to show any beneficial effect of the taken medicine, instead starts to exhibit negative affects. Drug or medicinal dependency require admission in hospital for at least one week to 10 days for body detoxification. This is quite a difficult and painful process that may not be possible at home due to withdrawal symptoms. A little bit of a note here, that, psychotropics are not like paracetamol or multivitamins. These medicines directly effect neurochemicals in the brain which effect our thought process and body function. Kindly attach yourself to a psychiatrist, preferably who sits at a drug rehablitation institution, and recieve the treatment in correct sequence for least distress and best results. Anxiety is a complicated illness. Good news is that it is treatable. You will feel much better with guided, supervised treatment. There must be a million things going on in your life that have caused you to try out every medicine you could get your hands on. Everything will be okay. Just trust your doctor. Nothing is lost yet. Get connected. My team and I are here to help you. Take care of yourself.
