Citanew (escitalopram) usually takes 2–6 weeks to show its full effect, so improvement may not be noticeable immediately. It can be taken either in the morning or at night, depending on how it affects you. If it causes drowsiness, taking it at night may be preferable. If it makes you feel more alert or restless, morning dosing is usually better. However, please do not change the timing or dose without discussing it with your treating psychiatrist. If your anxiety and depression symptoms are persisting despite treatment, a follow up consultation may be needed to review the dose and overall treatment plan.
