Asking For Self, Male 39, Lahore

I have A-fib. I am taking nebil 5mg in the morning. I started quetapine bd dosage but it is causing sexual difficulties, slurr speech, fatigue weakness etc.

I have taken serenase before and it was really good to overcome all these problems. can I start serenase or haloperidol again?

will it affect my heart? or should I increase dosage of nebil and then take haloperidol?

thanks

Thank you for reaching out and asking this very important question. It is a tricky situation and our Colleagues especially Cardiology can help us in this regard.First of all at this age A-Fib was diagnosed and what type of treatment would be needed and what other risk factors are there that need attention like long standing anxiety, obesity,Hypertension,Diabetes and drugs issues. Is it occurring infrequently or Persistent or Permenant? To be honest both Quetiapine and Haloperidol belongs to that group of drugs which cause moderate affect on QTc interval (essentially it mean that they can have impact if there is an underlying cardiac issue). My Advice would be to seek the advice of your psychiatrist and proceed with accordingly.

And what was the reason of switching from Serence to Quetiapine?

my psychiatrist thought quetiapine had less side effects than serenase.

Both have moderate effect actually but if AFib is not frequent and you have been closely monitored by psychiatrist, cardiologist and endocrinologist then retrial of Serence is possible but need to be on a smaller possible dose.

That is what you have to discuss with your doctor I suppose. As they know your past history very well and will be able to monitor the progress.

Haloperidol is used for short term only, it cant be prescribed for long duration. Better to consult your Psychiatrist
