Talk to Psychiatry on Chronic Depression

Asking For Self, Male 29, islamabad

I have been suffering from depression from the last 5 years and has been diagnosed with chronic depression. Recently (2 months ago), I have been switched from sertraline to venlafaxine. Since then, I always feel very nervous, and my concentration span has really decreased a lot (being a student can't focus at all) Can you please guide me what to do? Is it related to the medicine?

Hi there. I am sorry to hear about your difficulties. Can I ask how was your anxiety level and concentration prior to being on Venlafaxine?

Dear Dr M. Saqib,
Thank you - prior taking venlafaxine whilst I was on sertraline, I was still experiencing these problems as well, but the severity was lesser. I genuinely feel that after being on venlafaxine from last 2 months my nervousness has exaggerated and my focus span has tremendously decreased.

Thanks for sharing ur concern. You may consult me for it as you need a continued support for a couple of months to overcome your symptoms. It’s hard to benefit from medicine alone, without talk therapy. Hope that helps.
