Talk to Psychiatry on Depression

Asking for Self, Male, 30 years old, Hydrabad

About 4 months ago, due to some things not happening, I was suffering from despair and had followed a very busy schedule. After that, I started feeling pain in my heart, and experiencing fear, and a condition like numbness in my brain started to occur. After a lot of medication and diagnosis, I started taking depression medication. After that, I got addicted to the sleeping tablet Zolpidem, and if I didn't take 50mg once a day, I would feel restlessness and shivering. Along with that, the doctor prescribed Sertraline 50mg twice and Estazolam 2mg with Deprel medicine. Now, suddenly stopping the sleeping tablet, I have been taking these two medicines for only 4 days. As soon as I stop them, the condition worsens. Please suggest what should be done about this situation."

Your symptoms suggest sedative-hypnotic dependence, particularly to Zolpidem. Taking 50 mg daily is a high dose (usual maximum recommended dose is much lower), and restlessness, shivering, anxiety, and worsening symptoms after stopping indicate withdrawal.
Consult a psychiatrist urgently (not just a general physician).
A gradual taper plan is required — never abrupt stopping.
Usually, doctors:
Slowly reduce Zolpidem dose over weeks
Sometimes switch to a longer-acting benzodiazepine temporarily for controlled taper
Continue SSRI (Sertraline) for underlying anxiety/depression
Psychological therapy (especially CBT for insomnia and anxiety) is essential to prevent relapse.
