i was suffering with depression. my doc prescribed me fluoxetine 20 mg for 1 month which helped very i met a psychiatrist he told me that you have tried 20 mg fluoxetine which helped very little so he put me on effexor xr and dosed got up to 375 mg and my depression got controlled very well. now i am diagnosed with OCD and effexor xr which is SNRI didnt helped for my ocd. i have sesrched on google which says that SSRI instesd of SNRI is best for OCD . i want to know that should it be better to stop SNRI and go back to SSRI on a higher dose to help both my depression and OCD or not .

in theory this is what should be done in practise it very difficult to come off such a high dose of effexor the plan is to slowly reduce effexor then give ssri

OCD and depression could co-morbid or one of them is symptom of another. If they are co-morbid and OCD is not responding to Effexor then we can taper down the dose of Effexor and add SSRI and see the response to depression and OCD and act accordingly.
