Does Citanew (citalopram) affect memory? I was using it for like 2 years which helped me deal with depression, anxiety and panic attacks (have stopped since 2 months ago) but ever since I started taking it my memory became quite hazy. I struggle to focus on things and find it difficult to learn and solve stuff due to which my academic performance has negatively declined.
kindly take an appointment for further discussion regarding your problem.
how is your anxiety and depression without Citalopram,

Quite good as of now. I sometimes overthink due to my lack of concentration but apart from it there's no issue

There are several factors effecting memory in such cases one is Lack of sleep. Not getting enough sleep is perhaps the greatest unappreciated cause of forgetfulness. 1. Too little restful sleep can also lead to mood changes and anxiety, which in turn contribute to problems with memory. and by sleep I mean full restorative/restfull sleep 2. Underactive thyroid. A faltering thyroid can affect memory (as well as disturb sleep and cause depression, both of which can be causes of forgetfulness). A simple blood test can tell if your thyroid is doing its job properly.
Stress and anxiety. Anything that makes it harder to concentrate and lock in new information and skills can lead to memory problems. Stress and anxiety fill the bill. Both can interfere with attention and block the formation of new memories or the retrieval of old ones. You might need to learn skills to deal with stress and anxiety.
3.Depression. Forgetfulness can also be a sign of depression (not fully treated)— or a consequence of it.
