Asking for Self, Female, 27 years old, Hyderabad
Assalamualaikum. Doctor sahb Do you deal with patients going through severe limerence and the extreme sadness and intrusive thoughts it brings so much so that you're practically useless and unable to do anything in your day to day to life? I'm at the brink of losing hope and I'm in a constant state of hopelessness and agony. I'm in so much pain due to it that ending it all feels easier. Could you help me get rid of my limerence or direct me in the right direction? And do you only treat with medications or provide therapy as well?
You are never alone. Help is available. Contact any trusted-family member/ friend. Reach out to nearest emergency psychiatric facility. And regarding limerence, it is not a psychiatric diagnosis but may be a pat of OCD/ depression. Contact an psychiatrist for a Detailed psychiatric assessment . Combined approach is better than meds alone.
Wa Alaikum Assalam. Aap jis intensity ki emotional pain, intrusive thoughts aur hopelessness describe kar rahi hain, usay seriously lena zaroori hai—especially jab “ending it all feels easier” jaisa khayal aa raha ho. Limerence koi formal psychiatric diagnosis nahin, lekin is term se usually kisi shakhs ke bare mein overwhelming preoccupation, intrusive thoughts, idealisation, reassurance-seeking aur emotional dependence describe ki jati hai. Kabhi yeh depression, anxiety, OCD-type rumination, attachment difficulties, loneliness ya relationship trauma ke saath overlap kar sakta hai. Is liye treatment sirf “us shakhs ko bhoolne” par nahin, balki us cycle aur underlying distress ko samajhne par focus karta hai. Ji haan, is tarah ki presentation ka psychiatric assessment kiya ja sakta hai. Treatment mein therapy bohat important ho sakti hai—intrusive thoughts, compulsive checking/reassurance, emotional triggers, boundaries aur daily functioning par kaam kiya jata hai. Medication har patient ko zaroori nahin hoti; agar significant depression, anxiety ya doosri treatable symptoms saath hon to detailed assessment ke baad consider ki ja sakti hai. Suicidal thoughts ke waqt kisi ko batana aur immediate support lena important hai. Because this is already affecting your day-to-day functioning and hope, a detailed psychiatric assessment would be very worthwhile. If you feel comfortable, you may book an online or clinic appointment through Marham so we can assess the intrusive thoughts, mood, relationship pattern and safety properly, and decide whether therapy alone or a combined treatment approach would suit you best. Is level ki distress ke bawajood meaningful recovery possible hai, aur aap ko is cycle mein hamesha phansa rehna zaroori nahin.
