Asking for Self, Female, 22 years old, Peshawar

Recently I've been dealing with a lot of procrastination and inability to complete my coursework, well I've always struggled with long term projects and assignments, opting to do them last minute when the stress hits or even forgetting about them unless i get a university notification. As I'm in my last year I've really been struggling with doing my grad project and it feels internal, and i have so much guilt about it, I've been researching and thought that asking a professional would be best, so is this something you could help me with?

Procastination is not laziness. It is perfectionism. The fear of not doing the project well, leads to not starting it at all. You may have observed this happening in other things too. Although it is considered a positive feature, but perfectionism is not a very helpful trait, you need to develop skills to overcome this impulse of being perfect so that you may be able to submit your assignments and project in time. You can do so by breaking your task into smaller do-able goals. Set aside one hour daily (same hour everyday) for it and make sure you complete that small task within that one hour. You do not have to attempt doing this project during the rest of the day. As you keep doing this daily, without fail, you will realize that you have started to cover more task related goals within the same one hour as compared to before. It is the just the initation of work that demands a push, rest is daily discipline. In case you have a difficulty inspite of following this, kindly contact a clinical psycholigist for guidance and accountability. I and my team are here for your help. May things work out well for you.

I can understand how frustrating and heavy this must feel. Try making the task very small and realistic (start with 2/3 minutes or max you can at a time) and focus only on beginning, not finishing once you start, the mind usually follows. Setting simple reminders or studying alongside someone can also help you stay on track without putting too much pressure on yourself.
