Respected doctors plz suggest something,,we have family history of anxiety like my grandma and mother had this.. initially I was diagnosed with pmdd but my frequent panic attacks, depersonalization disorder become part of my life,,I have been taking antidepressants since many years,, right now taking sertrline..I don't have anxiety and panic attacks with it but depersonalization order usually persists,,I want to know would I have to take antidepressants forever as I cannot get normal without them
This decision depends on your symptoms, previous relapses, and overall functioning—it does not necessarily mean you will need antidepressants for life. Since depersonalization is still troubling you, it is important to discuss this with your psychiatrist, as psychological therapies (especially CBT and grounding techniques) are often very helpful alongside medication. Please do not stop or reduce sertraline on your own, as this may lead to a relapse. With the right treatment plan and regular follow-up, many people achieve long-term stability and a good quality of life.
