Asking For Self, Male 23, Lahore
For years now, I've been tackling with mood swings, severe anxiety and depression as well as suicidal tendencies. My temporary fix to this led me towards consumption of alcohol, narcotics, and distractions. But not only has this affected my work-life, but my relationships (family and outside).
Societal advices to this is to pray, meditate, and be grateful etc. Nevertheless, all of these fail to prove effective when the mind won't even allow the strength to wake up, engage in any activity or avoid thinking of worse case scenario in any situation.
I've booked an appointment for the first time with a psychiatrist today, but what could be the best solution to this?
Any and all suggestions will be appreciated, because now it's at the limit of endurance.
Psychiatrist will ask you and know about presenting complaints and there will be sessions,so you will feel better after taking those sessions and treatment accordingly,so don’t worry.
I can help by assessment and work around your problems and gradually developing more healthy was of dealing with day to day stresses without using narcotics … as i m in UK can do it by online video call… so book one. Thanks
Thank you for asking. This needs a detail assessment and further evaluation. Kindly book an online consultation for further assistance.

The doctor did prescribe me preloft 50mg, I took it twice after breakfast and the outcome was extreme suffocation, rapid heartbeat and panic attacks. Not sure I can continue this.

Preloft is an anti depressant and good,as it’s not so heavy dose,so i think you better discuss with the doctor who kept you on preloft.

I've a consultation with her again, but are we supposed to feel suffocated and on verge of being unable to breathe after taking preloft?

No,not really, could be due to other reasons, maybe you are in stress or overthinking.

The more you keep yourself calm and relax the better medicine will show it’s effect,so don’t worry

I appreciate the insight. I was pretty calm at the time when it happened, 4 hours after the initial consumption of the medicine, the rapid heartbeat, feeling like I'll pass out and being unable to breathe. At this point, I'm more scared of taking the med than dealing with my severe depression and anxiety.
