You need to reduce its dose slowly but you should consult any psychiatrist for that.

You can slowly tapper off over a period of at-least one month. But why you started taking this should be assessed by a Psychiatrist.

You have be admitted for inpatient detoxification. Benzodiazepine withdrawal is very dangerous.

Welcome, you are taking Xanax 1mg at night for quite a long time, it is called benzodiazepine which is addictive if taking for long and without advice, you are advised to reduce the dose over the periods of days if you fail you need to visit a psychiatrist for assessment because it very necessary to assess the reasons to start the Xanax, like sleep problem, anxiety or anything else, apart from that you need to follow some lifestyle modifications, for example, sleep hygiene( fix sleeping and waking up timings, do not complete sleep in the morning, no any activities while on bed, have light dinner, do not eat in late night, and do not drink lots of water at bed timings) proper diet timings, daily brisk walk for at least 30 minutes, try to figure out the stressor in your daily life... Thanks
