Talk to Psychologist on Memory Malfunction

I am an engineering student with major depression. Since my depression, I have been unable to visualize mathematical equations and English sentences. Whenever, I try to visualize an equation the mental image of it gets distorted and then disappears. The same thing happens with English sentences that I try to visualize. Please explain what exactly is this problem that I am facing. Is it a visual memory malfunction or a working memory malfunction.
