Talk to Radiologist on CT Scan Radiation

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Female, 31 Years old, Pakistan

Hi, I got my CT scan of abdomen and pelvis to check for any blockage, bcs I am very much constipated.

Also did a mammogram a week later (bcs of breast pain).

It showed nothing, but I read somewhere just now that CT scan and mammogram radiations are much higher than of xray and can cause cancer later in the future.

Is this true? Should I be worried about the radiation that have entered in my body.

This was my first CT scan and I dont intend to anymore.

Sallam. No you do not need to worry regarding these radiations. Althought incomparison to xray it is bit higher but still it is less than the annual dose limit for general public. So you can relax and continue with your daily routine.

Repeated exposure to radiation is indeed harmful but the radiation dose in imaging is much less then deemed harmful. So no need to worry.
