Talk to Dermatologist on Persistent Itching At Night During Sleep Of 15 Year Old Son

Hello Skin Doctor, I am a mother of a 15 year old son. My husband is out of City for work.

I am seeking advice regarding the itching problem of my son. For the past few nights, he has been experiencing intense itching in his private area (penis) specifically while asleep. During the day, he seems fine and doesn't complain, but at night it happens. Last night, while he was sleeping, I examined the area and noticed visible redness on the upper side of his penis.

I am curious whether irritation is caused by mild erection occurring during sleep as he is growing up? or is it due to some sort of allergy.

Please guide me on what ointment I can use or if we need to come in for a physical examination?
