Talk to Psychiatry on Insomnia, Anxiety

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 20 years old, Rawalpindi

I had anxiety issues since I was 16 and after that i developed insomnia I can't sleep for 4,5 days straight. And with that I get extreme suicidal thoughts only self harm can calm me down a bit. For the past 3 years I get into extreme depressive episodes that lasts for few weeks (mostly about a month) in this time I'm demotivated and get suicidal thoughts and basically hate everyone around me. But on a random day I get better and energetic and the circle repeats itself all over again.I don't understand why that happenes. Another thing that happens is my imagination,it's so extreme that I can't identify if a scenario that I remember was just something I made up or if that happened in reality.

Your symptoms suggest a significant mood disorder with anxiety and severe insomnia, rather than simple anxiety alone. The pattern of weeks of depression with suicidal thoughts, followed by periods of increased energy, along with not sleeping for 5 days and self harm to cope,is clinically concerning and needs urgent attention. The difficulty distinguishing imagination from reality may be related to stress, sleep deprivation, or the underlying condition. This is all treatable, but it requires a proper psychiatric assessment and likely medication to stabilize mood and sleep.
Given the presence of suicidal thoughts and self harm, please do not manage this on your own ,seek in person psychiatric care urgently and ensure you are not alone during these periods. If you feel at risk, reach out immediately to a trusted person or emergency services. Early treatment can significantly improve your sleep, mood, and overall functioning. Remember help is available . You are never alone

Your symptoms are significant and need proper psychiatric assessment, especially because you are having self-harm urges, suicidal thoughts, severe insomnia, and marked mood changes. Sleep deprivation itself can worsen anxiety, depression, emotional control, and confusion-like experiences.

Please do not manage this alone or rely on self-harm to cope. Reach out to a trusted family member/friend and seek urgent professional help if you feel unsafe.

A detailed online psychiatric consultation can help clarify the diagnosis and create a safe treatment plan with therapy, sleep management, and medication if needed.
