Asking For Self, Female 20, Rawalpindi
Hello Doctor, I need advice for a damaged skin barrier, chronic acne marks, and a cycle of product irritation over the last few months: Current State: My skin is not actively burning right now, but it is highly compromised. On my forehead (right side) and cheeks, I have stubborn closed comedones. On my right cheek near my ear, my comedones suddenly turned into red, inflamed acne after a sudden burn reaction. Product History & Burns: I was using Benzoyl Peroxide continuously without issues, but it suddenly triggered a severe burn. Later, I used Azelaic Acid 15% in April/May; it provided minor relief but ultimately caused a flare-up of more comedones on my forehead, which escalated into red, mild-pus acne. A reapplication of Benzoyl Peroxide caused another burn, leaving behind red, non-pus/mildly inflamed acne. Acne Marks & Texture: I have long-standing acne marks on my chin and both cheeks since January. On my left cheek, my older brown marks are starting to look slightly atrophic (forming tiny, hole-like texture/pitting). Recent Flare-up: After applying a kitchen DIY mask recently, I developed a new cluster of tiny comedones on the right side of my forehead. Please suggest a safe, non-comedogenic routine or topicals to calm this cycle of irritation and repair my barrier over the Eid holidays. Thank you."
