It sounds like his illness has continued to weigh heavily on you, and the repetitive thoughts and repeated touching and religious rituals are causing significant distress.What you are describing can happen in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), where unwanted thoughts (obsessions) lead a person to repeat certain actions or rituals (compulsions) to relieve anxiety. OCD is a recognized medical condition, and effective treatments are available.I recommend scheduling an appointment with a psychiatrist for a full assessment.
