Asking for Self, Male, 23 years old, Lahore
I’ve had a weird bowel routine for the past few months. I rarely pass a normal, sausage-shaped stool. Most mornings I feel like I need to poop, but I can’t. Sometimes I pass small pieces of stool, or soft stool that’s not watery diarrhea or normal either. I also feel constipated sometimes. I’m not sure what’s going on.

This pattern can be seen in Irritable Bowel Syndrome, mixed type (IBS-M), but other causes such as food intolerance, gastrointestinal infection, stress, medication effects, thyroid problems, or other digestive disorders should also be considered. Because the symptoms have persisted for several months, I would recommend seeing a physician or gastroenterologist for proper evaluation. Depending on the clinical history and examination, the doctor may recommend blood tests, stool tests, or other investigations. Seek medical attention promptly if there is blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss, persistent fever, severe abdominal pain, black/tarry stools, persistent vomiting, or diarrhea that wakes you from sleep.
