Asking For Father, Male 80, Islamabad

my father has been an Alzheimer patient since last 2 was facing the problems of insomnia, depression, panic, anxiety and mood swings. we consulted a neurologist 2 months back and he advised him to take ALP 2 mg per starting ALP his condition started getting depression and anxiety got better. after 15 days we started to taper off his medicine by reducing 0.5 mg per week and finally stopped his medicine in 1 month. is it okay to stop the medicine or should we continue it again,as his mood swings has again begun?

Try to avoid ALP, it can lead to further memory issues and falls. Is he using any medication for memory and depression ? what symptoms does he have ? If he has BPSD, then it’s better to start him on a low dose antidepressant after complete history which would stabilise his condition and also some specific rehabilitation activities can help him with his symptoms. Hope this helps.
